Limbsaver or decelerator?

What's the best recoil pad for a left hand Tikka T3 stainless 30.06?

Ive put R3's on all my remingtons, but curious to see if there is better?

I had a limbsaver on my T-3 Hunter in .338, it really helped with recoil, but as a hunting rifle I disliked how it caught on my clothing when mounting quickly. I have since replaced it with a sporting clays decellerator which is far easier to quickly bring rifle to my shoulder, it doesn't suck up as much recoil, but it is alot better then the stock pad.

Put a limbsaver on it. If it catches while mounting it then put some black electrical tape on the back.

Definitely the Limbsaver, but it's also a lot uglier than the Decelerator.

Thanx for the reply's.... I did a search and read lots but i still had to ask!

I like the softness of the limbsaver but didn't like the rings on the outside.. but I guess thats part of making it soft... I always had to clean the dirt out of them after a good hunt.

if you don't like the rings around it, get yourself a limbsaver grind-to-fit pad.... best of both worlds

I put a Limbsaver on my 30-06 and I am quite happy with it. Was a tossup between the Decel and the Limbsaver. There is a good chance both are really excellent-they seem to have put a lot of thought into them and people seem to think well of both. Beats the crap out of a plastic butt plate regardless.

Hey drillgod2000 did you get a gunsmith to put it on or just do it your self on a belt sander? I grabed one this weekend for my a bolt in wood but it was to small for the laminant stock. Just wondering what my options are.

i got it done at a gun smith as for options go to their website they may actually make one for your rifle and if not they provide part numbers and dimensions so you can fnd one that fits.

I recently asked a Smith what he prefers as he does alot of work with 50 BMG's, I figured he would have an opinion for sure!
He has tried the Limbsaver and the Kick Eze but still went back to his Pakymar Decelarators. He found them to stand up much longer, and that the limbsavers tear very easy.

I have used the Kick Eze on a 338-06 and it was pretty good.
Nuggets 300 SAUM seems every bit as good with the R3, I think it is a crap shoot. I cannot say for the Decelarator, yet.
