Lipsey's is selling a run of limited edition Ruger RSI rifles in 6.5x55.

Not only that, but they are stainless steel! Ruger also lists it as having an 18.5" barrel, as opposed to the regular RSI's 18" tube.

The price is US$950

Looks nice and the chambering is good too.

They are in the states. A few folks have brought rifles in from south of the border and I understand it isn't very difficult or expensive. I am sure if you do a search you will find lots of info on the topic.

it looks better than a brace of three Stevens 200's.....if they would shorten the throat on those 6.5 Swede chambers it would be a decent choice....it's more like a 6.5 Weatherby UNMagnum

Is the long throat not a good feature for seating the longer 140+ grain bullets? I don't know, that is why I am asking. Also, I am in the process of building a 6.5 and the Swede was on the short list.........

I think that the Ruger looks good. But I do like full stocks, I think they are kinda classy looking. Quite sharp with the stainless. Mix in a nice piece of walnut and I think it is a winner.

me too

I'd be in for one as well. What's normal importing fees? $200? It would be nice of Ruger to make up a bunch of rifles/pistols for their northern friends too. I'm sure some "prospectors and trappers" would love some .22 Bearcat Stainless with a 106mm barrel.

I wonder how many we would have to order as a "group buy" for Ruger to do a special CGN edition. What caliber would we choose? Perhaps .250-3000?

I callled Ruger a few years ago to ask about this in 358 Win. They told me they could not even consider it, because they were too far behind.

Having said that, I would definitely be in for one, blued and walnut, in 250-3000.

Maybe they are in a different situation with the economy in shambles. I was reading that Savage will build you a rifle in your choice of caliber. IIRC a fellow had a Model 14 Classic made in 250-3000....and I just looked it up, here is the link:
http://www.gunsmagazine.com/Features/1008/Ftr1008.html

The short-action Model 14 Classic is offered in eight standard chamberings and if one looks at the cataloged cartridges, the old .250-3000 is not to be found. However, Savage offers this rifle in any chambering they happen to have a reamer for even if it is not a cataloged cartridge. Customers also have a choice of iron sights or simply tapped and drilled for scope mounts with no front sight, a regular or Monte Carlo stock, a high-gloss or oil finish and a box magazine or hinged floorplate. I went with the clean look of no sights, hinged floorplate, and an oil finished Monte Carlo stock. It took less than two months for my rifle to be finished and delivered.

.250-3000? no, no, i think not. quite unacceptable. is it not clear the only choice would be 6.5x54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer??

and do tell more about a factory custom Savage, i couldn't find anything about it on their website.
