I'm looking for one of the forward directing blast compensators. It's for a Ruger 5.56 bolt action. It's a bit blasty in an enclosed area for those beside and behind the shooter. What's everyone's recommendation? I've never used one.
S&J hardware makes them;
TNA has a bunch. Their copy of the flaming pig works just like the real one that cost close/more than 200$
TNA does indeed have a bunch!

This one looks intriguing

The Surefire is $185 while the rest are in the $50-$75 range. Is the Surefire so much better than one of the other options?
If you get the threaded Warden, no. Save $$$ and get something else.
If you're looking for a QD forward comp, yes.
The ratchet Warden is hard to beat for the money if you own a SF muzzle device that allows you to put it on and remove in seconds.
I need a lesson here. If these are recoil suppressors does the gas not have to exit towards the shooter? As they can't be noise suppressors in Canada what do they do if they vent gasses forward where the normally go anyway?

I just shoot bolt action hunting rifles with recoil that can be managed by a recoil pad.
