has anyone used them? do they have any noticeable effect on lowering noise heard by the shooter? there are a few companies that seems to be turning these out now, i fired my m14s just once without hearing protection and my ears were ringing at least 10 minutes later, anything that could lower the Db from the shooters perspective would be great.

Ya nothing short of a suppressor is gonna make a .308 comfortable to shoot without hearing protection, especially on a regular basis. Unless of course you want that ringing to stick around 24 hrs a day, whether you like it or not. Linear comps and can style FH do direct all the angry down range but they dont replace hearing protection.
