I only enjoy articles like this if upon finishing I can say , that was interesting , enjoyable and I learned something . Well done Ardent .
 
Best thanks I can receive in my eyes, so thanks atr. Will keep at it, trying to decide how to learn something and do something new for Rhino. Whether that be trying one of the old monster cartridges like .577 Nitro, or continuing with old faithful the .375 and 350 grain, or even just standard 300. I would like to take the opportunity to learn something new on Rhino with firearms and cartridges, or add to what I already know the .375 H&H can do perfectly and its tally for me, or revive a golden oldie perhaps. I just haven't decided upon or figured out the angle I want to pursue yet, but I'll have to find one. One thing is for sure, I'll get as close as possible.
 
The .577 Nitro . About 40 years ago , yep 40 , a member showed up at the range with , going from memory , Holland ? double rifle but I've never remembered if it .577 or .570 Nitro Express I think he called it . He had 6 packs of ammo made in England , $12.00 per round , 40 years ago . I told him that i'd go two rounds and proceeded to blast two concrete building blocks at about 30 yards . He asked if I wanted to shoot a few more , and I wanted to , but I had just spent two hours pay for two rounds . I decided that I needed a cannon so bought a Winchester 70 in .458 . That gun would detach your retinas and I didn't have it long . Keep it coming Ardent .

Well set up for knives, have a Boker Combat Smatchet I've carried all over the world for ten years. It's been to Africa, the Amazon, Andes, all over Northwestern Canada, many of those quite a few times. It's light enough to carry and plenty effective if necessary, I once had to draw it as a deterrent to two legged scavengers in Bolivia- it worked. And if I'm drawing a knife on Rhinoceros, that marks a fine death and not too concerned which blade I'm holding, it won't matter. :)

 
This one is rather likely, and the true dangerous game,

And Gate yea they only did a short run of them, and many a time have I considered what a hell of a spear it'd make in a pinch. While also a fine death, will try and avoid spearing Rhino too. I do want to shoot it with something interesting however, considering everything but a .375 Ruger. :p

All kidding aside, I'm having absurd visions of trying something really obscure and classic, like a "bore rifle". It's a one in ten, but since I'll only do this once in my life, considering ways to make it interesting beyond further proving what .375 bullets at 2600fps will do as we all know.
 
Good eye, mix of Zimbabwe, Limpopo, Kalahari after rains, and Pilanesburg. The Elephant are indeed Pilanesburg, the Rhino are a mix of Zimbabwe and Pilanesburg, the Cape Buffalo Zimbabwe and Kalahari, and some shots like the one of my brother from Limpopo. Most of the scenery / landscape shots are Zim, but there are a couple green Kalahari and some Pilanesburg ones.
 
Update on the faulty round, Federal called me when I submitted a feedback response regarding the round, and I'm impressed to say the least. They're sending me .375 ammunition to my local store and researching the issue internally, called back within days, pretty good for customer service these days.

It's been years since I've come accrossmfaulty factory ammo, but a free box or two of center fire or brick of rim fire was the norm once.
 
CCI once sent me a case of SV's as compensation for a faulty lot... delivered to the door...

Ardent... your rhino deserves something unique... looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
