Lipstick on a pig..Boyds stock on savage axis

Very nice!
I would take a dinged up wood stock before a synthetic stock any day! In fact you won't find any plastic in my collection, ...well not stocks anyway. :/
 
Stainless Savage Axis with a pepper laminate thumbhole stock.. threw in a Rifle Basix trigger running about 1.25lbs. Cost like $600 all together for exactly what I wanted and shoots like it costs three times as much. And I can beat the living shyt out of it.

I think mine is running $1320 ish now as it looks in the pictures.
 
My Axis in 22-250 was bought new for $300 with the scope, stock, rings, barrel, action, trigger, etc. It will shoot with the best of them. I think I have about 10 minutes invested into it for "fixing the trigger". It may be ugly as sin, but it sure can shoot straight. I couldn't justify spending more money on it because it already shoots the lights out and if I was concerned about looks I would have bought a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2.

To each their own.
 
My savage axis was:
$329 new with the bushnell scope included.

I since replaced the sock with a Boyds prairie hunter nutmeg $99

and I have a Bushnell elite 3200 that I got used for $150

So I have a $580 set up as it stands.

I could have purchased a Savage model 10 with weaver scope and walnut stock for $587 new at the gun dealer and had a similar set up

but I am really happy with the boyds stock....I like it better then the factory walnut savage model 10 AND the bushnell elite 3200 is much better then the package weaver..SO I think for $ 580 I am set up pretty well
