Lisenfeld Scope Broken? not Broken? Advise Please!

Hi Guys,

New forum member here, and I have a question for experts. I have recently purchased a Weatherby Mark V used. It had a huge horkin scope on it a Lisenfeld 4-12x56 I believe. I bought the rifle mostly for the rifle and the scope just came along with it. (Bonus I thought at the time) the issue is I can't get it sighted in. I have checked over the rifle and scope and made sure the scope mounts were tight. It is spraying bullets all over the paper at 50 yards in a 2.5 foot diameter circle. I noticed that when I turn the zoom on the scope the crosshairs also zoom or get larger. Is this a sign that the scope is messed up? I have never observed the crosshairs growing on any of the other scopes I have had but I have never owned a German Scope and wonder if this is supposed to happen?

If the scope is indeed damaged does anyone know where I could get it repaired and how much that would cost (and if it would be worth it)? I looked up the company and it seems that they no longer exist so it doesn't seem warranty would be an option.

Any Advice would be very welcomed!
 
Ahh...that's better. I'm no expert, but I've had my shares or challenges with scopes lately, so I'll chime in:

Without seeing your set-up, the following is all speculation: Providing you have actually snugged up both the mounts, rings on the mount, and the ring halves to each other, it still leaves the (1) scope and/or (2) rifle, and/or (3) the ammo, and or (4) shooter (and there's no offense with the last point, just a simple statement...) as possible culprits.

Lisenfeld was apparently a quality scope, and in European style, the crosshairs change size as you change the magnification. Nice feature, once you figure out how to use it for your benefit. However, I'd remove the scope and mount another scope to eliminate the scope as a problem (I guess Weatherby Mark V does not have irons?)

How is the rifle crowning? If it has been damaged, it may mean a trip to a gunsmith... .

Are you sure it is not a mounting problem ??? Most times I see this it is a mounting problem. If you need the scope serviced, drop me a PM...
