doesn't matter now any ways

According to an exclusive article in The Weekend Australian, the Australian manufacturer Lithgow Arms will not be selling the highly anticipated semi-automatic F90 Atrax bullpup rifle chambered in 5.56mm Nato to the American commercial market.

Lithgow Arms is located in Lithgow, Australia and is owned by defense contractor Thales Group in France.

The article published on March 29th states “…today a Thales spokesman said the company had dropped plans to sell any of the rifles to civilian markets on ethical grounds.”

I think they're in the wrong business to use "ethical grounds" as a reason not to sell to civilians. Conversely, I think it's quite unethical to only sell to a certain group. But hey, virtue signalers gotta virtue signal, y'know.

Yes your right. But I guess it was different enough that they didn't use the named variant excuse but went with the age old claassic easily convertible excuse.

It's a matter of competing ends. It is far better to advance thr narrative of 'easy covenersion' than variant excuse. Especially when the overlords are eyeing semi autos.

Thales makes junk anyways. Thier "survey equipment" is a waste of $
A Thales division is the company that made the notorious rail signalling equipment for Edmonton's NAIT LRT route. You know, the signalling system that resulted in the whole LRT line running at 30 km/h for months, because the drivers had to have time to react visually due to the system's habit of putting trains onto paths for head-on collisions.

No one buys that stuff other than the Australian BIG army. AUG is dead, no matter how much plastic to put on it.

The only reason it exists is the same as the Colt Canada, Australia wants its own small arms manufacturer. If we all pay attention, Australia doesn't make anything other exporting raw materials, ie copper and gold. Making rifles and small arms munition is the least it can attempt to do.

At least Colt Canada does make a product based on a platform that is capable of competing in the world market, and Canada does manufacture stuff.

I did not know that!! Ya learn something new every day on CGN :).

get woke go broke

if that's the type of company they are we are better off without their product, lots of other companies more than willing to sell to civilians

Lithgow Arms has been around since 1912 so....not going broke anytime soon. They in the past sold .22s to the civilian market but that was 40s and 50s. They do enough dealings with other countries including refurbs of MGs etc. They also assist in the production and refurbing of weapons to the ADF not just the EF88 (Mil version of F90). The EF88 has been widely well received by the Australian Army and initial worries that it would be outperformed by M4 platforms has been rubbished. The F90 is widely 'anticipated until it's not sold commercially and then....the hate comes out. The F90 wasn't sold for 'ethical reasons' solely on the widespread use of commercially available semi-auto and autos in the USA hat have been used in mass shootings. The media and population backlash in Australia would be massive and Lithgow Arms don't want that stain on their reputation.
