Found a 1917 Lithgow SHTLE Mark III Enfield for sale via a private sale. Seller doesn't know what he wants or if he eve. Wants to sell it.

I'm no expert in LE's but I do know the made in Australia ones are a bit harder to come by. It's obviously bee. Sportsterized and even by my untrained eyes it's been rebarreled. Has an * on the brass stock button which signifys... I have no clue

With said details and others not known, what is a fair price for nice milsurp? I don't exactly need it but it comes with roughly 30-50 rounds as well and I don't have one haha.

Value depends upon bore condition - A lot of these rifles suffered from the effects of corrosive ammo. If the bore is in good shape, 200-250$. BTW - I dont think that Lithgows command a premium, as they are relatively common.

Does the serial number on the bolt march the rifle? What type of ammo (hard to find .303 ammo for less than $2 per round these days)? Has the muzzle end of the barrel been chopped? What do you plan to do with it - shoot as is or desporterize?

As above $200-$250 is about right depending on bore condition....

Is ther an FTR date on the rifle, lots of these were FTR in the 1950's, so that may be where the barrel came from. If the barrel is heavier than a standard barrel, it might be a factory heavy barrel - so it would still be technically correct and all you'd need to do would be to find some appropriate wood (easier said than done) and stock it up (also easier said than done)

Serial number on the receiver matches the stock.. so that's a good sign. I. Probably gonna see it in person this weekend. Here are some more pictures. The tip and front sight area definitely has some rust... how bad.. I'll know more in person.
