I understand these bulldog or tanker guns were never military but were made to fill a demand for carbine length milsurps? Can anyone tell me more about this? Like who altered them, and how many are there out there? Does anyone collect these?

Navy Arms was doing them. Stock is cut and dowelled under the middle band. They probably did a lot of them. Doubt that anyone collects them, they aren't collectible, although are no doubt a handy carbine.

Lithgow did build the No1 MkIII* Shortened and Lightened, and the No. 6. Both of which are very, very rare.

The Navy Arms guns are toys, but in time, like the Sante Fe rifles, there will probably be folks who collect them.
