I've got a Century Arms "Centurion" 300 WM built on a P14.

It has a one-piece scope base and attached at the end is a tiny little flip up peep sight that I could use if the scope fails and I have to remove it and need iron sights.

My buddy had it installed before he gave me the rifle.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I've never tried shooting through it.

Have those on several of my rifles. They were an option years ago on Redfield bases. You simply ordered the base with the peep sight. They can be installed on any rear base.

You have noticed it is adjustable as well, right? Here's one installed on a Weaver base.

Hi Ted,

Indeed, I did notice that it is adjustable.

As I previously indicated, I've never had occasion to need it, but on my last hunt when my Leupold started fogging up I sure considered it.

I think Talley used to make a similar rear base w. a built-in peep sight, although as I recall it only fit Rem. 700 actions (?) Not currently on thrir web site although they do make one that can be put on a base like the XS and NEGC.

Actually, the Little Blue Peep was made by Maynard Buehler. The adjustments were pretty sophisticated for such a small sight, 1 1/2 minutes per click.

Here's a picture of one I still have.

Installs between the two rear windage screws, and will fit Redfield and Leupold bases as well as Buehler. Someone needs to make these again.

The Redfield was called Redfield Auxillary Peep Sight. Someone needs to start making them, too.

That's a nice little treasure, Ted! You'd think some enterprising machinist (like Skinner, or - gasp - even a Canadian one!) could make those or the Redfield type.

There were some nice peep sights for the Husqvarna rifles as well, such as the Jaktdiopter and Hellquist:

And there is the Golmatic Rigby-style aperture sight for Mauser actions:
