It won't end. All the little extra tools that you really "don't" need, will become a necessity. But really, its the little extras that can really add to consistency and precision in loading. It takes some of the guess work out of it. The Lyman case prep tools are nice to have. One of my favorite purchases recently is the Hornady OAL guage and bullet comparator. I don't know how I lived without before.....
Everyone sings the praises of the Lee manual for learning but I found the Nosler's step by step photo and text section to be the most benefical to me. Everyone is different. Good to see you have a few manuals.
I own four books on reloading and the two that get the finger prints
are the Hornady II and Lyman 45th Edition.
The Lyman gives full size photos of the cartridges too.
The Lee is just too cluttered for me eyes.
The Nosler is a decent book, but started with the Hornady
and it's easy to follown.
I've been collecting brass for years for that day I finally take up reloading. Between picking up equipment and building my bench and doing quite a bit of reading it's turning into quite the hobbie already and I haven't even reloaded my first shell yet either! Definitely addictive eh?
And a thanks from all us noobs for all the advice and opinions on here!
I am a collector by nature and have always been a sucker for tools. When I looked at reloading I knew I was going to be making another investment. The catch was that I don't have much room to spare and certainly not enough for another bench. I use a couple of Lee hand presses and they have been sufficient for even 300 Win Mag. All the tools fit in one big toolbox until I decided to cast bullets so now I have 2 large toolboxes. Brass takes up another large storage bin and powder and primers are in 2 medium boxes marked explosive.
When the day comes that I can build a shop again I will look into a few presses including a progressive but for now this is working well and is teaching me good habits. Every cartridge I make is hand crafted and I can be confident that it is safe.
