Little disapointed with 550 Safari

I don't know what it is with the 550 , but you just don't feel like you gotta be real careful with it. Just a solid beautiful firearm, the walnut just flows around that massive action. CZ just gets it !! time for remmy and winchester to catch up. :p

Sorry to here you're not too impressed. I had a 550 in Rigby and was very happy with it. Mine had a very nice peice of wood and was very accurate. I'd have to dissagree with the 602 being nicer. I had one of those as well, it was an excellent hunting tool but much rougher than the 550. I just bought another 550 and am looking forward to receiveing it. If the guns not what you want don't but it. It'll just become tradeing stock.

I would agree with MTM, I have handled quite a few 602's and there is no way they are any better or nicer than the 550 I just bought.

I guess different tastes, but if you dont like it and move on. There are far more expensive, pretty rifles out there that do the exact same thing. Open that wallet if you want a queen ;) :D

I have a ZKK-602 .416RM and a CZ-550 .458 Lott. There is only 2 differences between the actions... the stock is another thing. But anybody can upgrade a stock to improve a rifle.
The ZKK-602 has a "funky" backwards safety. It's the same idea as the simple Rem M-700 safety, a small thumb actuated lever on the side, but back is fire, forward is safe.
The CZ-550 has reversed the travel direction of the safety to make it function virtually identical to a Rem M-700. The only other actaul difference between the ZKK and the CZ is the shroud on the safety of the CZ has been modified, which is merely cosmetic.

Personally I prefer the appearance of the old ZKK-602 over the so-called modern look of the CZ-550. But there is really no difference. Just get used to the direction of the safety. I guess you could get it modified (on the CZ-602).

The stock on my CZ-550 .458 Lott is butt ugly, but it's functional so that's all that matters. That rifle weighs 9.5 lbs, with just the factory express leaf sights, but I can shoot it pretty decent at 100 yards off-hand. It is a great shooting rifle (as is the .416RM).
I have a Leopold 1.5-6X Vari-XIII on the .416RM and I took a nice bull moose with it at 200 yards last October.

If you are worried about the stock, and I can understand that, then just upgrade it. You will not find a better action then the CZ-550 for the money.

When my 602 was assembled with the stainless barrel and the factory stock shortened to fit me properly, it only weighed 7 pounds, yet it was not at all unpleasant to shoot. When the stock finally failed, as I knew it would, I replaced it with a McMillan which added 2 pounds to the weight of the rifle. Despite the additional weight, the rifle's handling characteristics did not change to any remarkable degree.
