Hi,i got a ljungman ag42b i want reload. When i use manufacture ammo, some brass get dent by the moving parts some dont,is there a way if am reloading my ammo i could change that,i dont want moded the gaz screw.thanks

They are very hard on brass.....

Every ljungman i have ever seen at the range or heard of does the same thing, Ejector smashes the headstamp hard, Dented necks and sometimes the body gets banged up too.

Be ready with a good supply of brass on hand to feed the pig!

Hi,

there is lots of data on reloading for these on the net. The use of faster powders seems to help on mine - though I certainly have not found the "answer". I would google and find all the articles I could, as it appears there are some real dangers in loading with slow powders in this cartridge for the AG42. I have now found a load that cycles the action and doesn't destroy the brass -but just isn't very accurate...I will keep working on it.

X2 faster powders, and develop a medium light load which won't dent cases. Don't use federal primers cause firing pin has no return spring and can slam-fire. Always feed cases thru magazine, it slows down bolt and chance of slam-fire. Clean bore very thoroughly if you switch bullet types, like from copper jacket to triclad or plated steel jacket(this has caused destruction of some 42B's). goodluck with interesting rifle.

i've had very good sucess with imr 4064 and nothing heavier than 140 grain bullets .

you can modify the gas block on the barrel to make it like the hakim , then with that turned down , you can pretty much use any powder and bullet safely , and have the brass land softly next to you , instead of in the next country .

I have loaded for my 42b. Also used 4064 and 140 gr Hornady SP's. Mid range loads were accurate ,functioned well and not hard on cases.

Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I’m curious if you, or anyone reading has landed on a winning combination for the AG42?

Ok thanks M1. I like that approach. Gives lots of options. Any lessons learned from your mod, or is it pretty straightforward?

There are a lot of previous post about this, you'll find it by going to "search" and type in gas adjustment AG42B, that's where I found it.
I had to order a tap and die for the screw and lock nut, unusual size, 4mm x0.5. found them on ebay.
Once I made the screw with its pointed end it took some experimenting to make the gun cycle right, too far in and it won't cycle, so slowly back it out until it cycles without beating the brass up.
