Im gonna test out a Swedish Ljungman rifle in a couple days, and I've got an ammo problem. These things are meant to fire low power/faster burn rate ammunition. The only shells available at the local gun store are Nosler hunting rounds.

How can I fire these (most likely) slower burn rate rounds without breaking ejectors and tearing rims off of casings? Do I oil them lightly first?

Check the specs of the Nosler against PPU 6.5x55 (139gr fmj), I run exclusively through both my Ljungman's and haven't had any issues so far. No FTE, FTF's and it doesn't seem to beat up the bolt group.

I also use the 139gr PPU and it works excellent. When I'm lucky enough to find the spent casings they always look good as well. I can't say I've shot the Ljungman a lot but haven't had any extraction problems in the 200 or so rounds of 139gr PPU I've run through it.

P.S. Watch your thumb when loading! Safety-ON before you charge your first mag, safety-ON when the mag runs out!

Doesn't seem terrible...but Google horror stories have got me scared.

I've heard the oil/not oil debate quite a bit. I'm on the side of the fence that thinks it'd just start building up in the chamber and accumulating crud.

Having owned one of these myself, the best recommendation I can give you is to start reloading for it, or accept that it's going to chew up your brass.

I've run both the bowler trophy grade 6.5x55 and the PPU stuff through my AG42B without issue. I reload now though as it's a lot cheaper than howler ammo.

I have one screw left and the tap and die I used once if someone wants to try ( I ordered the the tap and die from U.S.)
Pics in above thread have disappeared but we formed the screw into a needle valve kinda

My AG42B has the same mod , it works great . As others above have mentioned , I've seen a few 42's come apart using modern ammo over the years . I reload for mine , but the adjustable gas mod really does help . By the way , mine shoots better than I can .
