I recently brought my Ljungmann down to Vegas to shoot with some friends, and brought it back with a hefty portion of the desert in my gun case, all over and in my gun. I can field strip it no problem (easiest semi-auto to field strip I have seen) but the detail strip gets me hung up on one spot - the forward barrel band. How do I get this off? I can take out all the screws for the trigger assembly and the butt plate, but the band that holds the front end of the wood to the barrel (where the cleaning rod is inserted) just won't come off. I have tried depressing the lever that is on the underside of the stock, even putting a flathead screwdriver under it to try and release a catch if there was any and still nothing. How do I get this off?

Halp!

Make sure you remove the cleaning rod before trying to depress the catch. If I recall there is not enough clearance to depress the catch fully with the rod in place.

I took the cleaning rod out, and the latch seems to be able to move a bit but not enough to remove that band. The hakim has a screw on that band that the Ljungmann doesn't have.

Don't thank me too much, I haven't updated it in forever! I'm gonna try to do it tomorrow. Also, the counter is broken, I get tones of hits every since the first pic that comes up for google image search for ljungman and the 7th for word search :)
