Ljungmann optics?

' Wonder how you'd #### the rifle when the dust cover you have to pull back is under the mount? Pushing it to back on one of the 'tits' only would be a bit of an operation. Best put a cocking handle on the right side, as per SVT40, M1 etc.

Maybe that's why the Swedes gave up on the idea...

It would not require a lot of modifications. The change would only require a new model dust cover with perhaps a combi charging handle/cartridge deflector; nothing to put an end to a project.
Probably the Swedes thought it would be superfluous once the war was over to spend hard cash on modifying thousands of rifles.

There is a thread here on someone making a Hakim Sniper. Interesting food for thought as the Hakim is basically the same weapon but in 8mm. You'll need to sign up to the board to view the pictures.

This is a two part thread so check out the other half of it. Might give you some ideas. Russian side rail is a good idea, and the shotgun mount sounds like an interesting possibility also.

I saw a guy at the range a couple of months ago that had a Ljungmann with a scope mounted. He had his dustcover permanently screwed back with a piece of Weaver rail mounted on top. He had a cocking handle made to #### the bolt. He also had a custom thumbhole stock. It was a really neat rifle! He was having problems with wandering zero but he had a really junky Chineese scope on it so I'm thinking that was the problem.

You're right, I wasn't thinking clearly...probably the Swedes did put those three holes on the left side of the mag well for a possible scope mount. It would make sense given the example of the SVT40/PU and G43/ZF4 combinations.

The fellow here http://www.geocities.com/therealsailorx42/DescriptionofSwedeAG42Bscoped.txt says the PU scope was fitted to his in Sweden. Not hard to believe as the Germans brought lots of stuff back from the Russian front and some ended up in Denmark for example. The PU is a very good choice actually as the mount is tall enough to clear the action and the scope is short enough to clear the dust cover grips (probably) and the mount base is fully adjustable for windage and elevation, meaning you can screw the base on and THEN collimate the mount to the bore. Smart, those comrades...
