Hi all,
I would like to hear any thoughts from fellow bullet casters. I presently pan lube then tumble in LLA. I do get good results however. I find the pan lubing awfully messy & I'm wondering if I can just tumble lube with LLA and shoot them that way without pan lubing. I won't be exceeding 1500 fps. Are there any disadvantages to doing this? Such as excessive barrel leading? I am looking forward to find out what everyone is doing.

I use one of 3 dif. lubesizers, ea. setup for a diff. type of lube, I find it very important to try different diameters of the same bullet for best accuracy. I also wouldn't like the build up of lube in my dies that happens from tumble lubing. I like it that i can control where the lube goes, ie; in the lube grooves, not the crimping grooves.

I tried LLA before mainly for the tumble lube mold I have(only own one), Its OK for pistol but I luberisize almost of my cast pistol and rifle boolits.

LLA is too messy , plus I have to size anyway so I might as well lube at the same time, with a far better lube than LLA.

Thanks for your replies. My best accuracy with my 308 is with 150gr L-FN dropped from a Lee mold & sized to .310. I had next to nothing for leading when lubing the way I was. However, the pan lube was giving me the most trouble messing up my dies since the entire bullet is covered with it where the LLA wasn't giving trouble at all. I was just curious to see if LLA alone would work. If not, I'll continue to pan lube & just clean my dies more often. Maybe my lube is too soft? I can try adding more paraffin to it. On another note, I don't have a lubrisizer, just the Lee sizing kit.

The LLA on its own will be fine. The nice, clean look of a bullet with the lube grooves completely filled is to be admired; but the fact is that most of that lube is wasted, and is still in the bullet when it stops.
The lube has to be uniform. Not deep.

Splatter...i don't want to hijack this thread but, if you have lube left on the bullet when all is done you are using the wrong lube! I test bullets for expansion , accuracy, etc....I recover alot of bullets and don't usually find any lube left on the bullet. If there is no lube left and you get no leading, then it's working right. Some of the bullets(cast) mass produced commercially have small lube grooves and use a waxy BLUE coloured lube. When i recover them, most of the lube is still there, they must not shoot their own bullets.
