Hello, im thinking about aquiring an AR style rifle.
I know DA are basically a rebranded norinco. any pros or cons to either?
what about the LMSR Canada ammo states assembled in Canada. Chinese parts? rate of twist?
fit and finish?
thanks

DAVE

I wouldn't touch the LMSR due to the polymer lower. 1/9 or 1/7 doesn't matter unless you want to be shooting 80gr VLD's. The Norinco and DA are the same thing, and have a good reputation for the price. Another option would be something like a DPMS Oracle.

After Canada got flooded with Chinese ARs, we have the first report with AR Ka-boom. US AR production is booming. AR is made in Canada. North American prices for AR are down and very close to Chinese. So, why buy Chinese?

Love the floods consequences!

I wanted an AR for over a year now, maybe 2! 2 years ago it was nearly impossible to find a new norc. Cqa. Then a new painted batch ( I wanted anodized finish) but prices remained unchanged. First to drop prices was Canada ammo$599, Marstar $529. Then others , reluctantly. I bought a new one- $550 all in from a fellow CGN er . Waiting on transfer . I already ordered flip up sight( rear) and 2 Beowulf mags. Now all I need are dies to reload and brass. I'm buying a 1/2 case of surplus( reload able ) and powder ( yes, I know it'll be hard to find but I'm resource ful).

To be honest I would not have bought the norc at $700. I'd have probably gone DPMS, or saved for the basic Ruger.

But at the clear out prices CanAm and Marstar had/have going on, it's hard to beat for a first rifle.

I'm toying with the idea of building one now. Just waiting for an upper/lower set that really grabs my attention.
