LMT 308 Owners "chime in"

The 155gr FMJ the Brits are shooting, is better ball than M80 or C21 ball for accuracy.
I've run over 5k of M80 thru a SR-25 EM Carbine, but just because you can, do not mean its ideal.
Most of these guns (ours and LMT's) is optimized for the M118LR round - however they do well with other rounds as well.
The UK Sharpshooter requirement was <18" at 800m, that is + of 2MOA
My argument is is you want to see what the gun can do, then feed it M118LR or BlackHills 175gr ammo.
We do not recommend Federal ammo, due to the soft brass.

Interesting. Is the concern smashed up brass on feed leading to poor accuracy/jams, or post firing problems? I've heard lots of people stay away from some primers, but not federal brass.
Remember as well that the UK contract guns are slightly different than the model we tested... current commercial shipments from LMT are the MWSE version which has a 1:10 Chrome Lined barrel. The UK contract uses the MWSF version which has the 1:11.25 SST barrel... that was specifically built to meet their specifications.
That barrel adds about $500 to $600 US to the price of the gun.

Actually the SS gun was not specific to the Brit's - as Karl had one before he went after the contract. All the Mil trial guns I have seen from them have that barrel and the SF Suppressor coupler.

I never meant to say the barrel was specific to the Brits but rather that "version" of the gun was built for them... at the SHOT Show LMT was not even sure they would offer the "UK" version of the gun as they called it. It was being shown in the booth and so many people asked about it that they later added it to the dealer price lsit. My point was that the Brit contract uses a different barrel than the gun they are shipping right now for "commercial" orders and that what we have is that commercial gun. Given that the barrels are different (including the twist rate), there is no telling without a side by side comparision, what the performance would be with the UK specified ammo in the 1:10 twist commercial version.
The 1:11.25 twist SST barrel is also being offered to commercial customers (without the SF Suppressor coupler), but not shipping commercially at this point. My guess is we'll see those start to show up late this year once Karl has satisfied the Mil contracts, (he notified dealers recently that he was pushing back some commercial deliveries of the LM308's in order to meet accelerated delivery requests for the Mil orders).
Frankly I've been very pleased with the 1:10 version guns we've received so far. To be brutally honest, if I didn't already own a Knights I'd be hard pressed to justify the difference in price between the LMT at $3,499.00 Canadian and the Knight's which even in the SR-25 EM Rifle is about double the price. The Mk11 Mod1 is well past the $10,000 mark.
For the money I personally think the LMT is a fantastic value and VERY hard for a commercial end-user to beat as an overall package... but that's just my opinion

I am seriously thinking of getting LMT 5.56 CQB - if somebody owns one, pleas chime in and share the experience and opinions. The primary use will be IPSC type rifle matches.
Have to make a decision between LMT, STI and Colt LE 6940.
