LMT Barrel

Does anyone else's LMT barrel have this kind of 'spiral' machining left on it? Just wondering, I have never seen it before. Thanks.

A lot of barrels have that. I don't own an LMT, but it is a normal machine mark...

my norc m14 has that, of course thats not LMT

They do that to speed up production. If the surface is just clearance, they will rough cut it. Looks like crap and I don't like doing it myself but if the bosses want to cut machining time, that's one of the ways to do it.

I had a newer production Colt Match HBAR barrel that had similar tooling marks on it....

My 10.5" LMT barrel doesn't have any machine marks like that.

99% of all AR barrels will have that under the handguard.

The only ones that usually dont are Stainless steel barrels -- as those barrels are not manufavtured the same as others

Diemaco barrels have the same machine marks, as do my Colt and LMT's
