Nickel has much greater lubricity when combined with lubes in general, I have been using a enhanced LMT bolt head in my MRP for almost 3 years and they do work as advertised, clean up is a breeze when the bolt head sits in some bore cleaner and it will remove all traces of burnt powder.

I'm not a metallurgist but I thought that chromed steel was subject to hydrogen embrittelment. That would, in part, explain nickle plating a bolt but is there any difference in the chrome plating of barrels? Is this 'hard' chroming?

FYI, I just ordered a Strider Pancake of Death (POD) to mount another knife (Strider SLCC) to my MOLLE plate carrier...could this be useful to you? (I got their last one in black )
