Anyone running one of these with some decent rds downrange?
Any "carrier tilt" problems?
Pro & Cons if any? comments?

yeah Ive been thinking about this. THe 12 is out of stock but the 16 is in stock. I dunno, its a hard call. The price is good, but is there an advantage other than ooh look at my most awesome gun sort of thing? I almost bought the 16 tonight got some other stuff instead.

I believe they put rails on the lower back end of the bolt to deal with tilt. Don't know how it fares other than I would think that they have extensively tested it.

Guys... just to avoid any possible confusion... keep in mind that the LMT MRP Piston Conversion Kits only work on LMT MRP Rifles and Uppers.

The MRP uses a patented quick change barrel system that does NOT work with standard AR barrels.

The LMT GP kit includes a complete barrel assembly, gas piston configured BCG and an H2 buffer which exchange for the standard barrel, carrier and buffer and by doing so converts the gun to gas piston operation... the whole process takes less than 2 minutes and can be reversed by putting back the standard barrle, BCG and buffer... also in under 2 minutes.

This kit will NOT work on other rifles.

We now have some of the complete 12" Gas Piston LMT MRP CQB Rifles in stock and I believe we have a couple of the uppers as well... should be on the website in the next day or two.

I love my 12.5" LMT Piston

I decided to be pro-active about carrier tilt and got the Firearms Ready Solution buffer and spring. I had to measure the opening on my bolt carrier and the buffer was machined to fit. Cost around $100 with spring good investment. IMHO.

We have not had any reports of carrier tilt issues with the LMT Gas Piston Rifles.

For those concerned about carrier tilt we have on order a new product from PWS...

Product Details...

The PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube is the first major upgrade and improvement to the buffer tube in years!

This one piece billet buffer tube is CNC machined out of solid 7075 aluminum in order to gain lightweight strength and reliability.

The most notable features on this buffer tube include:

  • One piece construction eliminating the castle nut and ensuring that when installed, the buffer tube cannot become loose.
  • Attachment system automatically indexes the buffer tube perfectly straight.
  • The bottom of the interior buffer tube extends a lip into the receiver, supporting the bottom rear of the bolt carrier, counteracting the carrier tilt present in some piston systems.
  • Two QD sling swivel attachments are machined into the front of the buffer tube allowing ambidextrous connection of your QD slings.
  • The buffer tube is fluted to allow debris to be pushed out of the way, and a drain hole has been placed in the bottom of the tube, allowing for draining of water when the rifle is parallel to the ground.
  • A dead blow buffer is securely installed in the rear of the buffer tube to reduce carrier speed by an average of 10%, and dramatically reduce felt recoil.
  • The PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube is Mil-Spec.

We expect these to arrive in the next 30 to 60 days.

No... you would (should) have received the torque wrench with the MRP upper (or MRP rifle).

Im not sure why but when I got the initial MRP off you I never got a torque wrench. I heard that everybody else got one. Anything you can do here? It was a CQB order. I can PM you the details if you need them. I had to go out and buy a torx type key from McMaster Carr.

If you purchased at the very beginning when LMT first released their MRP then they were not including a torque wrench with them... that came @ 6 to 12 months later (if memory serves). Nothing I can do about that now as at that time their price was based on what they shipped... they didn't even have a torque wrench then to ship.

After many requests from their dealers (including us) LMT sourced a torque wrench and started including with the packages.

They do sell the torque wrench and adaptor separately... #LMT-L7S1TW is $50 (on our website).

We don't show them in inventory but we can get it for you no problem.

Mark,

Besides the monolithic rail, what's the difference between a standard 10.5" LMT vs an MRP upper of the same length? Will the 12" GP conversion fit a basic 10.5" LMT upper?

That post didn't load properly on my browser so thanks for quote n' post. I wonder how difficult it would be for a good gunsmith to make that conversion fit a non-MRP upper, hmm..

to difficult. :)

More PWS goodness :) , is that when the PWS piston bolts come in too?

Novan, you want a conversion for a conversion?

Just buy the LMT MRP upper dude. It's a specialty item but MRP uppers fit any AR lower. Questar's MRP Piston conversion is for the MRP upper.
Other piston kits are available for non-MRP platforms. i.e regular AR barrel configs.
