LMT Sopmod Questions

^New rubber band...??

SOPMOD is simple and it just works. I also have the Vltor E-Mod which is an evolution from the original Vltor stock but Magpul just copies both with the ACS.

The latch on issues SOPMOD's would offen slip, so you band the latch.

The US Government chose the ACS on the M110 Carbine, and I think its the best 762 collapsible stock available.

For 5.56mm guns I like the CTR

The UBR is a nice stock, but its heavy, and the latch style is different it requires a retraining of your muscle memory.

If you are concerned about wobble, fear not to buy the Sopmod! Lack of wobble is one of the main reasons I am such a fan of them. I HATE stocks that rattle!

Bought my LMT in May..the SOPMOD has zero wobble, feels solid, and I personally feel the cheek well is far more comfortable than many of the Magpul stocks. That's just my opinion. I have had zero issues with the SOPMOD stock in terms of extension. It feels very crisp to be honest.

I agree with other comments about trap doors and storage compartments not being terribly useful, but I also agree that the SOPMOD is expensive.

If you want something simple, no rattle and comfortable, get the one you like most. In the end if you like the SOPMOD but spend money on a new Magpul stock and don't like it, you will buy something else and spend just as much anyways. Get what's comfortable and fits your use.

Ask someone at the range with a SOPMOD to see what you think before you buy.

Like Kev said, the SOPMOD can slip at inopportune times, messing up your eye relief. Rubber bands increase the tension on the latch.

I too have just picked up an LMT and the stock is amazing. Solid with no wobble. Apparently, the biggest gripe with the stock is that shooting prone is not the best solution with the SOPMOD. I have yet to shoot her, but I'll test that theory.

Nice collection Beltfed. I am currently building mine. Whats that on the far left? RFB maybe? If so that one will be in my collection as well. Have one on pre-order now.

It looks like a FN FS2000 with the bottom handguard replacement rail instead of the ugly standard piece. Looks good actually.

I need to get a cabinet made like that. It looks great and lots of room unlike most of the safes. Very nice setup Beltfed and nice firearms. Was that a modified cabinet. a modified closet or bought?

As for stocks. I'm going to throw my 2 cents on this one. I'll find out about the Sopmod in a bit when my new rifle gets here. That being said I love the CTR on 223/5.56 AR15 carbines. I do have to say that a close second for me is the Israeli Fab defense stock that came on my Armalite. There is a tiny bit of back and forth wiggle but no sideways. So it doesnt' lock up as nice as my CTR stocks but the overall design is very good and comfortable. It came with the rifle, and I don't see the need to replace it. If inexpensive enough it might be another consideration.

For precision AR10 rifles and AR15 rifles I actually really like the standard A2 stock. That or a Magpul PRS if you need the adjustments (I don't).

Simple smooth and works just fine. The CTR which I own 2 of now, I really like, but i like my HK ones actually better for over all use. I think there are many great stocks out there, and in many ways the Magpuls line of collapsible stocks are better than the Sopmod stock, but the Sopmod stock set a new standard that many are based off now. I have contemplated taking off my LMT stock off my KAC lower, but i really love that stock, it fit well in the shoulder and feels more meatier than the CTR.

I find the CTR, and especially the ACS, unnecessarily complicated and overfeatured. I love my simple and comfortable SOPMOD (I do own and shoot all three stocks), and would buy more, but the SOPMOD price is totally unreasonable for what they are.
