So I went to reload for the first time in a couple weeks and for some reason my press is now binding during its stroke. No idea what changed but it was fine last time I reloaded. The press moves fine for the first inch or so of travel, then the next inch it is incredibly hard to move. I checked the primer tray, that is sliding just fine, took my shell plate off and it still does it. anyone have any ideas?

The only time my LNL sometimes james is when I have a spent primer stuck near the top of the discharge tube. Give that a good cleaning and see if it improves

A improperly seated primer on a case will bind it. does it do it without any primers or cases in? It's the process of elimination and don't force anything

nothing to do with the primers or cases, I have the press stripped of the shell plate and it still does it.

I played with the pawls the other night, didnt seem to make a difference but I'll try it again.

ok, played with the pawls, they are fine (ill prob have to adjust them when I put a shell plate back on) but the binding is happening when they are doing the auto advance. so thats what is binding, but not sure how to fix that

does no one read? i appreciate the help but in the first post I said I took off the shell plate and it still happens, then I said it again in another post.

I thought it might be the shell feeder, but it seemed free and when I back off the pawls so that they don't engage the cam the binding goes away. so its got to be something to do with the indexing/rotating.

I'll call hornady when I get a chance, but their support hours are the hours I'm at work, so hard to get a chance, hoping I'll be able to tomorrow and see what they say.

If you don't want to wait, the only other thing I can think of is too strip the whole thing down....including the subplate (2 screws on either side of the ram).

Then add parts back one at a time to see where the binding states. I doubt its an issue with the prawls...I've loaded 30k rounds on my press and they never needed adjustments
