ok, so I recently aquired an antique 1873 French Ordanance pistol in its original chambering of 11mm. I have a chance to get my hands on a bunch of Unique powder pretty cheap and need some advice on where to start for a load. The previous owner used a load of 3.4 grains of trailboss, but I'm having a hard time getting my hands on that powder. I've heard that Unique is another good powder to use in the place of blackpowder.
calculating pressure is pretty much impossible..just to many variables so does anyone else have any experience with this powder in an antique? I thought about starting at 1 grain and working up, but thats not always a good idea, cause some powders react poorly with too much air space and can cause greater pressure spikes.
Anyway, I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks
