I am trying to find load data for 168 gr sierra btsp hp moly bullets with IMR 4831 in a 300 wsm.

I currently am using 63 gr but I am finding the loads way too slow. However, they do group very well at 100M.

I did find some data on 168 gr barnes btsp bullets that uses 69 gr of powder.

I know I need to work up to this load and look for pressure signs but can I start safely at say 67 gr's.

Any and all advice on the 300 wsm greatly appreciated

Where did you find the data using 69gr?Is this from a commercial loading manual,or is it just one persons load?As far as working up a load,I start at least a few grains below max if the load is listed in a commercial loading manual.

I recently changed powders in my 300wsm from H4895 to W760. I was getting unreliable performance from the faster powder. Group sizes got real small with the W760 and the longer burn. I think you are on the right track. Start with the normal load workup and look for pressure signs. As to too slow, I choose accuracy over the need for speed. You always have to work out bullet drop for your new load anyway.
