Load Data for Campro 124gr + Hodgons Titegroup (Confused)

HI. No need to blast off 20 rounds to test a load. Try 5 at a time of different loads and go home and redo the ones that work. Avoid the MAX loads till you need to get there or you could end up pulling bullets on too hot of a load.

First I have never seen any advantage in going to max loads for handgun rounds. As a general rule the higher the load the more recoil the worse the overall accuracy. Most handgun accuracy is in the shooter not the cartridge.
Second, I moved away from using Titegroup for my handgun cartridges for anything except very light loads. Titegroup is a very compact powder. IT IS VERY EASY TO DOUBLE CHARGE A CASE WITHOUT NOTICING. This is even more likely if you a new to reloading as you have not developed any feel for what is going on. I double loaded a couple of cartridges in my early days. Fortunately I was at the lighter end so it turned out OK but a double load of powder can be very bad for you health. For this reason I have moved to Hodgdon HS6 as it is a much bulkier powder so double charging is very obvious.

I shoot the 124gr CPHP's with Titegroup and CCI 500's, here's my load data.

Bullet: Campro 124gr CPHP
Powder: TiteGroup
Primer: CCI 500
Charge Weight: 4.3gr
Trim Length: 0.750"
Overall Length: 1.095"
Shots: 10
Avg Velocity: 1128
Min Velocity: 1110
Max Velocity: 1139
Spread: 29
Std. Dev: 9
Temp: 85degF

The average velocity was nearly identical to a log of Factory Winchester 124gr FMJ's I had, but my SD's were way lower! 5.0gr of CFEPistol with the same setup will net you similar velocity, but slightly higher SD's. Both have been 100% reliable in my Glocks.
