Just getting ready to start some load development for the new .30-06 and need some help.

I found 100 Fail-Safe bullets in the cabinet (150 grain) and I'm going to use them up.

Problem is that I can't find load data online and my Nosler manuals don't have data for these bullets. I think the data is in manual #4

Anybody have an older Nosler manual with data for Fail-Safe bullets that you can check and send me a scan?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the data. I need it for 150 grain bullets, though.

I've read that the Barnes MRX is of pretty much the same construction as the Fail-Safe (Tungsten core vs lead).

I'll do some more checking online and may end up carefully using MRX data.

I do have an old Winchester (component catalog)

Has a single piece of data for 30.06 with 150 failsafe:

Win 760 - 55.1 gr - 2810 fps - 52,100 psi

So at least maybe a starting point to work from.

Has a bunch of failsafe data for the 180 grain, but that's it for 150.

OK, thanks.
At least it's somewhere to start

Barnes manual #4 has MRX data with H-414 (same as WW 760) starting at 55 gr. and going up to 60 gr.

H-414 data gives the fastest velocity listed in their data (3056 fps with 60.0 gr.)

The fact that the Failsafe is moly coated, makes it a bit different than the MRX. That being said, because of the moly, any load that is safe for the MRX, should be safe for the Failsafe.

Your 30-06 data is also in Nosler #5. Page 308 - identical listings for 150 gr. Solid Base Ballistic Tip, 150 gr. CT Ballistic Silvertip, 150 gr. Partition, 150 gr. CT Partition Gold/Partition Gold Moly-Free, 155 gr. Custom Competition HPBT, and 150 gr. CT Fail Safe. Identical powder loads in Nosler #6 (drops Partition Gold and Failsafe, adds Accubond; drops Viht N140, adds Big Game), and #7 (adds E-Tip; drops AA3100)

Thanks for the info.
I have Nosler manuals #1, #6 & #7

guess I'll try with the data from #6 or #7

Nosler does warn to ALWAYS use starting loads with the Failsafe bullet. My own experience with them is that they develop excessive pressure sooner than cup & core bullets.

Definitely will be using starting loads and going up gently from there.

I'll be using the chronograph when I'm developing loads with these bullets. Usually, my loads don't get chronographed until I get something that shoots decently. Then it's chrono-time to tweak the load.
