Load data for Lapua/SMK combo .308

Starting up load development in a .308 Remington 700P and want to switch from Winchester brass to Lapua. I have a 1K Lapua cases to play with. Want to shoot either 168gr SMKs or 175gr SMKs using Varget as my powder. Does anyone have any tested and tried loads in this combo for me to work with as a starting point. Thanks fellas.

I've yet to try a Sierra accuracy load that does not work well in 223 Rem, 243 Win, 308 Win or 270 WSM!
Here is a link to Sierra's 308 Win load, just the equivalent charge of Varget.
(Sierra recommend RL-15 just like US Army uses in M118LR).

YMMV...

I have NOT tried the SMKs. I have used Amax, Hornady BTHP Match, Berger VLDs, all in 168gr through a 5r with 1/11.25 twist. I believe the 700p is 1/10 ???
Anyways, every load ended up being 44gr Varget. All loads were mag length. Some manuals list 44 as max, some list as mild.

Again, YMMV.

700p is 1 in 12 rate of twist. If you go on to snipershide in the reloading section at the top of the page there is a section (reloading depot). There is tons of info on .308 loads.

175SMK over about 44 to 44.5 of Varget, loaded around 2.8 to 2.81. Work up to it but works in a couple of mine and if you search you will hear these same numbers over and over.
