Load data needed m856 tracers.

I recently purchased some pulled m856 tracer bullets (63.7gr .224 dia) and when they arrived I thought I could use data for bullets in the 62-66gr range. However they have a very long profile and I am worried about pressure. I have Varget, CFE-223, AR COMP and IMR4064 available. From looking around on here and elsewhere online I have found a lot of recommendations to use some military powder that seems like it would be difficult to source. I am only interested in using them for plinking so I don't need a crazy accurate load but was wondering if anyone has loaded these, what powder was used and what were the results?

Anything would be appreciated.
 
I would use whatever powder you like and use data from 65-70gr projectiles and just start low and work up.
Be careful, most ranges don't allow you to use tracer rounds and using them in the bush can cause fires. I have some 30 cal tracers that don't light up till around 100 yards so if you are shooting short range you may not see anything.
They sound like fun but in reality they're pretty useless for us civilians.
 
Fun Is never useless! I've loaded a few thousand I these. I prefer cfe223 as it was cheep and a great light rate. I believe it was 23.5g if memory serves me correct but I'll check if I can find my book when I get home. Never really checked for accuracy as I was usually just blasting at about 500m or so.
 
Load for the bullet weight with whatever powder you have most of. You cannot buy military powders. Isn't released as surplus in Canada.
5.56 trace doesn't light for about 100 yards either. Really kind of boring. Unless it's out of an MG. MG's are fun.

When it was available from Higginsons the WC735 surplus powder was ideal. Excellent for 223 in general .......... bought it 7 lbs at a time! If you know anyone that has some it would be worth a try. It was in stock with them for the longest time but appears to be sold out now ....... along with most other powders!

According to Higginsons WC735 was very close (5% faster) to H335 so not sure if you can find any of that? or Win748.... BLC2 ??
