I've been working on a few loads for my .257 wby vanguard and am pretty happy with them at the moment. I also just got a new stock for it (nice and walnutty rather than the black plastic). I haven't put it all together yet, but just curious, has any one experienced any change in the "best" load for their gun as a result of stock changes (different stock, bedding, free floating whatever). I am thinking that it may change the grouping, but not which load provides the best grouping, but I have no real reason for this belief.

Thoughts?

If it was me, my attitude would be "Whatever it is, it is."

That is, it does not matter that 10 of us chime in and say the best load will remain the same, because your rifle will tell you if it is still the best.

My guess is that if the barrel was floating in both stocks, the load will remain the same.

Oh I agree. It'll be what it'll be. "Worst" case scenario is that I need to spend some more time at the range... the horror.

I had just got to thinking about it a bit and was wondering if anyone had ever noticed a difference or had put much thought in to it.
