Anyone out there have any experience with IMR4320? I have a couple of pouds of it and some hornady 165gr bullets cant really find a load for the 30/06, someone wanna share a pet load? thanx......STU
My Sierra manual lists a max of 50.9 grains of IMR 4320 with a 165 grain bullet.
Make sure you start at least 3 grains lower and work up safely.
Regards, Eagleye.
My Speer Manual No. 8 (May 1971) lists a MAX load of 53.0 grs of 4320 for 2919fps muzzle velocity -- 51.0 grs for 2842 -- 49.0 grs for 2750 ---- listen to Eagleye and start LOW, never at MAX These loads for 165 gr. bullets only.

I recently tried 4320 in a couple different stock Remington 30-06s, and with 165 Hornadys. The Hodgdons website shows 51.2 grains with a Sierra but I had to call 50 working max and that was still plenty warm for a winter load. You coudn't chase me to 53 with a pitchfork. 49.5 grains was the best compromise of accuracy between the two rifles. Accuracy is very good, every bit as good as the Varget I was useing as a standard.
