Load for .45 70 Government BFR

I have a .45 70 BFR on the way. I just picked up some brass and 350grn jacketed Horanady bullets.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a load? I'm a little nervous as I'm not 100% sure what load I should go with as there are 3 categories, trap door, lever action and bolt action. I'm confident the massive BFR can safely withstand loads stronger than the anemic trap door loads but how far should I go.

Factory loads I believe are loaded to the lower pressure of the trap door action. I personally would stick with the lower pressure loads. I have fired the BFR using factory loads and there was enough recoil for me.
 
A buddy of mine owned one and with a BFR, the limiting factor won't be what the gun can handle...but what you can..."shooting enjoyment" can diminish quite rapidly with a BFR and very few grains increase in powder...start at the very bottom of the "trapdoor" tables.

I am very envious...A BFR is the only "I want" left on my handgun dream list.

International Shooting Supply in Surrey has a used one in 45/70 if you are interested.
 
I never worked up loads for for 350gr jacketed, but did load 350gr hard cast with 52gr Rel7, and got 1630fps. My most accurate loads were a 250gr mono flex, and 32gr of 2400 for 1644fps. And Jethunters 485gr gas check cast, with 42gr of Rel7, for 1420fps. That last load generates more recoil than most would find reasonable.
 
Fargone4sure- those are respectable numbers. Generally my loads were the same for my guide gun 18" barrel and the BFR 10" barrel but the BFR was about 300 fps slower. I have played with weights from 300 gr. cast plain base to 535 gr. postell. I run the 325 Leverevelution through, (it was snappy). I look forward to loading a faster burning powder to increase the speed on a few selected weights. I believe the BFR can handle the loads, the limiting factor is what the person can handle with-out flinching. I enjoy taking it to the range EVERY time. It really would come into it's own out on the land.( if only it were legal with just a RPAL)
 
Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate the help. I found a recepie for IMR4198 at 37.9grn. That should deliver 1500fps. I'm thinking that should be comfortable to shoot, that and I have the powder on hand. I will try it out and maybe work towards something faster.
