What is your best load and what kind of groups are you shooting? Trying to find the right factory/hand load for my 7mm 1640 series. Just want to narrow things down a bit before I break the bank trying stuff. The best results I have had so far is a 1.5 inch group with 162gr Hornady SST.

162 grain SST,63.0 grains of RL22, Winchester large rifle magnum primer, any case trimmed to length and then my COL is .020 off the lands for my rifle. Groups are tight at 1.25 - 1.50 most times, mainly depends on me.

Yes, the Federal Blue box worked very good for me ! When I started reloading for my milsurps, I also decided to load for my hunting rifles and found it to be a hell of a lot more fun to see what I could coax out of them. From everything I have read on the magnum, the slowest powders give slightly less pressures but more velocity, so thats what I tend to lean to. I try to do test loads with about 4 to 6 different powders to see how the gun reacts and the results really differ from round to round. I still don't understand the logics behind how every rifle shoots differently, but they sure do. Load some, test them and then tell us what you noticed !
