Well I have been busy at the range the past couple of days and once last week. I finally found a good load for my Sauer 202 in .243 that shot 1/3 moa after switching to H4350 powder.
My Rem 5R in .308 was so easy to get sighted in and find a good load, I could have quit after the first group. IMR 4064 with Hornady 168 gr HPBT.
But the same loads in my new Sako Finnlight did not work out so well. Think I may try a can of Varget and maybe some other bullet. This is a light rifle and I could feel the recoil much more than the Rem 5R and it heated up and held the heat longer. I did give it a couple of minutes between shots. Also the trigger felt abit heavy so I adjusted that down this morning. Kind of wish now that I had got a laminated wood stock and heavier barrel.
Any suggestions/pet loads or bullet types that you may have had luch with? I would like to get this rifle down to 1/2 moa or better if possible.
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers Roscoe

I have a reduced recoil load. 42gr H4895 under 100gr Hornady short jacket or 110gr Vmax. Only about 2500fps, but shoots same hole at 100 meters. Good for close range fun, and super cheap.

Varget works good under 168gr Amax for me.

Instead of having a heavier gun, you can increase the overall weight by adding a heavier scope. But then again, you only take one or two shots after hours of hunting. Recoil or extra weight, your decision.

The last 2 .308's I have had both did very well with a 150gr bullet and 45gr of Varget.

In both rifles (and Savage and a Howa) spitzer 150's were seater to 2.8" (check lead in your rifle). The Sierra GameKing 165gr BT is also a very good bet for accuracy. I ma hoping 150gr TTSX's do well too.

Consider RL-15 and good old IMR4064 with a 150 grain Nosler Accubond.......work up to 45 or 46 grains with RL-15, or 44 or 45 grains of IMR4064.....A 150 grain Barnes TSX would be another good choice with the powders mentioned....
