This has probably been done to death but here goes. What is the general consensus on storing mags loaded or empty? Will keeping them loaded in the safe wreck the springs over time? Thanks in advance guys

Same as above replies with one qualifier.

Storing mags loaded will not affect good quality mags. Poorly manufactured mags with sub-standard springs will take a "set" that will result in reduced "spring power" over time.

As mentioned in past threads, good quality springs are worn out by thousands of cycles, not by one single long term loading.

keep em loaded....won't hurt them at all.

+1

This has been my experience as well.

NAA.

Never, never, never leave a magazine loaded! And always park your car with the frame jacked up until the wheels clear the pavement so the car springs don't "take a set". :p

As long as the safe is designed and sold as a 'gun safe' as opposed to cabinet, yes, legal.
Are you talking about GunVault safes? The box they come in and manual state that it's a safe and complies with California reqs., that are stricter than others. That's your proof it's a safe, designed and made for guns' storage.

What misinformation??? I never said it was against the law, it was based on personal preference.

I find it very hard to stick both hands in to get the pistol AND the mag when your in a hurry. Much easier if it was left on top.

mag springs don't wear out from being compressed. They wear out from cycling( compressing and relaxing the spring). They can be left loaded indefinately. My personal prefrence is to keep them loaded, ready and handy for what ever may develop.
