Loading 300 weatherby

I am trying to find a bit of data for my 300 weatherby, I wish to load 180 gr sierra spbt, I have not been able to find any data at all for this bullet. I have a bit of H 4831 in the room but Im not stuck on it. Would welcome any recipes that have been good to you boys, or just any you know of for thie sierra bullet.

Here is some info you may find useful(from Sierra Rifle Reloading Manual):

Note: I am only listing the info for the Sierra 180-gr. boattail bullet and H4831 powder. But, should you require other powder choices for the 180-grain Sierra bullet, pls feel free to inquire offline.

Powder: H4831
min. load: 76.9 gr (2800 fps mv listed)
78.8 gr (2900 fps)
max load: 80.7 gr (3000 fps)

The Sierra manual recommends the maximum charge for hunting.

Personally, I'd rather go to a 200 grain bullet, where the Weatherby's case capacity(bigger engine) really shines in driving the heavy slugs. Performance wise, the 200 grain slug is the superior choice where game knockdown power is a priority. Should you ever hunt in Africa, you'll understand what I mean.
As a matter of interest: Maximum powder charge for a comparable 200 grain Sierra BT bullet with this cartridge is listed as 77.6 grains of H4831, for 2800 fps muzzle velocity. There are no flies on this load!

I used to own a .300 Wby (Japanese made Mk.V) and I found that 200gr bullets worked very well. I used the Nosler Partition and IMR7828 to get a hair over 3000fps. Notice that the loads given with H4831 are below what is attainable with a .300 Win Mag. I'd give the 200 Accubond and IMR7828 a try.

I have to agree with the fellows suggesting the 200gr bullet. The WHBY case is a very nice match for this weight and if you're in moose country it's a great recipe, the 200gr nosler partition and H4831; you'll never look back to a 180gr. Good hunting Bill.
 
Thanks for the info guys, just moved out of serious big game country and back to the east coast, Im really just looking for a good load that I can shoot all year and then use on my yearly trips out in B.C. I have a two hundred odf the 180 grain spbt's so I would like to use them up, but will take your adice and go for the 200 grainers next order, I have never heard this claim before. Are we saying she should shoot and like them better than a 180, or just more bang for the buck so to speak with equally good performance
 
You certainly don't require 200gr bullets for your 300wby.The 180gr tsx will penetrate even better and has a higher ballistic co-efficient as well.
 
I use 180 gr Accubonds with 80 gr of IMR 7828. Seems to work real well and I get 3079 fps. The Accubonds have a BC over .500 and kill like crazy.
 
I am reloading 300 Wby Mag for friend and Barnes 180 grain TSX bullet is sitted on top of H1000 84 grains for velocity of 3180.
Very good combo and this is his only load from yoties to moose.
I worked this load starting with 81gr and in his rifle ending with 86 as load showed excessive pressure.
You have to have super premium bullets for close shots at high velocity from all magnums or they will do lots of damage.
