I'm going to make some hand loads for my M24. Previously I've been using FGM, and have gotten very good accuracy. I've seated some dummy rounds 0.02" off the lands, and these bullets sit pretty dam far out. I could push these bullets in at least 0.2" inches before I would be near the 2.8" COAL. Bullets are on fairly tight, and I can't pull them off by hand. Dummy's chamber easily. Pic for reference. Is this acceptable?

I like to seat the bullets at least square, if possible. That is, with at least .308 depth of neck engagement.

Less engagement is acceptable, if the bullets do not touch the rifling, since there is no danger of the bullet pulling out of the case if you open the bolt.

My 308s typically are loaded 2.85 to 2.95, depending on bullet and throat.

If the bullets are tight, you should be good to go.
