Loading 9mm berrys bullets

Currently I'm loading speer 115 gr. 9mm with 4.4 grns of Titegroup (this is under the max load listed in the speer manual). I now have my hands on some berrys 115 gr. bullets and was wondering since they are plated as opposed to jacketed if I needed to dial back my loading or can I keep the same data? Thanks.
 
It is a plated bullet, I would start halfway between a lead and jacketed bullet.....somewhere around 3.6 grains probably......you use 4.4 and you will be pealing the plating off, and likely toasting the gun

You are supposed to use lead bullet load data. Not 'halfway between lead and jacketed data'...... Use full house Jacketed bullet data and you will be lucky to shoot 10 rnds.

The reason berrys suggests keeping it under 1200 is because above 1200 you have a better than 80% chance of getting leading in your barrel.
 
If you don't wanna work your load up, wait a couple of weeks, Hodgdon is to publish Berry's load data on their site in July. Load data is already done, actually... some not so little bird told me that ;)
 
You can use hard cast lead data from Lyman for those bullets, or a mid-range jacketed data. Just keep them below the 1200fps and don't overcrimp and you should be fine. Like CeeZer said, Hodgdon has data that will be published in July for plated bullets.
 
I tried pushing Berrys 124gr. to 1400fps, the retrieved bullets looks okay, accuracy and plating retention. Were talking about 3k rounds.

Sorry to contradict you, but this is an old popular belief.
I'm not here to do advertising but CamPro bullets (and probably other brands too!) have 8 thousands of an inch and can be loaded with standard load data for jacketed bullets (such as speer) without any problem.
 
Way back when companies that started the process of plating a lead bullet fell in line with the .22 rimfire design where they flash plated the lead to deposit enough copper to cover the lead. Now most plated bullets measure in thousandths of an inch, our core dies are on the average 12 thousandths of an inch smaller than our final size or "Re-strike Dies" are. Speers plated pistol bullets like the Gold Dot have double that dimension but at a cost. Time in the plating bath equates to cost in production. Our bullet is a niche bullet designed to cost more than cast lead bullets and less than jacketed bullets. If all you need is a target bullet that you shoot under 1200fps and are not reliant upon controlled expansion then the plated bullet will save you money. If you want to hunt with a magnum caliber round then then plated is not what I would use.
