Loading Bullets Upside Down

I can't recall the magazine but a few years ago they did it to test accuracy- what do you have to do to get poor performance- by modifying the projectile only.
Turning the bullets around not only worked great but were accurate as well.

I believe it was Handloader and the only thing that affected accuracy to any degree was a file notch in the edge of the bullet base.
 
There's actually a song about this: "It's all about the base".

Defects there guarantee diminished accuracy.
 
J.A. Hunter wrote of pulling softs and reversing them when a group he was guiding got caught short of solids in the Ngorragorra crater. Capstick wrote of killing a elephant harassing there camp with a reversed 270 Winchester. Apparently it's hard on the teeth, but with the proper motivation possible. Capstick was known for embellishing the truth for a better story, but Hunter's accomplishments are so well documented that I doubt he needed to stretch the truth.
