Has anyone had any great with reloading for their RPR in .308? I did up a few rounds last week and started to get some tight-ish groups around 45.6 gr N150, went back home and tried to tweak them a bit and they were all over the place which bothers me to no end.
Running N150 at 45.6 gr in virgin Lapua brass with CCI primers behind 165 SST Hornday was giving me about 1 3/4 group at 200 meters 5 shots, when i tried tweaking them from 45.2 up to 46.4 (over i know) in .2 gr increments they were all over the place.
Wondering what may have gone wrong here, I broke the rifle in with 100 rounds of factory ammo. Cleaned and removed copper before going out with my first set of hand loads. Fouled the barrel with 5 shots of factory ammo and proceed to to shoot 5 shot strings with 15 mins of cool down time. Thought i had a close node(45.6) and developed another 25 rounds around that. Once again cleaned and removed copper before testing and fouled the barrel with 5 shots of factory ammo again.
I just saw a thread on lapua brass having inconsistent neck tension until fired once but this is the first i have ever heard of this issue, could it be the problem?
While i have your guys attention I also have a Lee neck collet die i have tried to use before but when i run the Lapua brass through it, the neck will not fit on my Foster case trimmer collet, Winchester brass is fine though, any ideas as to why?
Sorry for all the questions but i am getting a bit frustrated by this.
