Loading for the Kropatschek

Does anyone here handload for the steyr Kropatschek rifle?

Looking to find a source of brass and bullets here in Canada. Seen a way to turn 348 Winchester brass into 8x60 and apparently lyman makes bullets.

Any help appreciated.

The base on a Kropatshek is .543 compared to .502 on a 45-70 shell. That would be quite a bulge and you would have to keep your pressures extremely low to avoid bursting

Lyman may make a bullet mold for this, I don't believe they make the bullets, i could be wrong.

Neck size and set shoulder back on 348 brass in an 8mm Lebel die until it chambers, bevel rim until it matches the bolt face and fireform. Neck size in Lebel die.
45-70 brass is much too small.

Ok so take three forty right brass, run it through a 8mn Lebel die but back it off, then file the rim around so it works with the extractor. Then fireform the brass. Don't know what fireforming is though.

.348 Winchester has the same base diameter as some of the .50 calibre black powder cartridges. You could probably make Kropatschek brass out of .50-110 or .50 Basic cases, but it would be extra work compared to starting with .348 cases.

The Kr bolt face has a beveled countersink that the rim of the ctg must be beveled to match, nothing to do with ext.
