Does anyone have data for loading shotshells with fiber wads? I have a few thousand fiber and card wads in 12 and 20 ga. and would like to use them for informal target shooting while leaving less plastic litter on my land. I don't like all the plastic shotcup wads lying around.
The main problem is that the only data I can find is from 30 year old manuals and most of the other components are different, especially hulls. Has anyone seen pressure data from substituting fiber/card wads in a recipe for plastic shotcups with no other changes? I suspect that pressures MAY be lower, because of a poorer gas seal, but I don't know for sure ( friction could be higher too) and so I'm reluctant to just try it out. I don't think pressure can be judged by " eyeball" very well when loading shotshells. Suggestions?

That kind of data will be hard to find, and i wouldn't experiment without some old data to work with. When reloading with card and felt/fibre you are safe using Black Powder in it's dram charges(approx. 27grs. of Black Powder= 1 dram). This does NOT mean you can use smokeless and dram eq. loads.
The data you are looking for hasn't been common since they invented plastic wads in the late 50s I think.....Ben
