Loadmaster primer issues

Hi, I have a LM and I reload mostly 9mm.

I prime in the resizing die.

I am having issues, once in a while, the primer will not be delivered. I have to manually check each case at station 3 before I load the powder or I get a mess.
Also, sometimes the primer will load sideways, or even upside down.

Any clue? The assembly seems quite clean to me. Remove, spray with brake cleaner, and air dry?

Thanks

Ahh the Loadmaster. I have one and the main complaint against them among others is the priming assembly jamming or failing to feed. There is a forum on how to make them run and Lee has issued a couple updated primer assemblies that are supposed to work better. I got the last update but haven't installed them due to a lack of pistol shooting/loading.

Darwin Te from the forums also has a bunch of good youtube videos about this press.

Shadowdog also has some good videos

The above videos are older though and do not deal with the current red priming system.
Brake cleaner might melt the plastic of the primer assembly so be careful.

I have and use a Lee Loadmonster :p, and like the OP, was having issues with the priming system. Cleaned it many many times, tried various tweaks and was almost ready to huck the whole into the can when I decided to try something...drastic.
I disconnected the case feeder actuator assembly. Tore it off the press is more like it . Turns out it was the thing interfering with the priming. Throwing off the timing is my best guess.
There is no longer any drag as I cycle the lever. Just an extra step to slide a case into the plate. I actually like it. I find it primes 99.9% now, the brass gets fed in better and the whole press feels and cycles better.
Now this is my fix. Your press may have something different going on. Just something to think about.

I cut and glued a 223 case to the end to use as a handle. Works and looks good.

A simple zip strap stops the slider from coming off the track. No need to reinvent the wheel when the simple stuff works.

(E)

I used a L/M for a # of years. It would pooch about 5 out of every 100 primers, not a lot but still aggravating. While I did load a lot of good ammo on that press, I finally fixed the primer issue with "Blue Paint" ( in reference to your other post). Now I might pooch 2 or3 primers in 2 or 3 thousand rounds.

the casefeeder doesnt seem to give me issues. (apart from the upside down 9mm brass, and I find it generally cheap...) and it doesnt work properly with 223.

I found an article online regarding the primer slider that had a small plastic flash. I tried to trim it but it still does not work.
I think lee has updated the assembly again.
Emailed them, will try to get a new one.
Right now I deprime/reprime on a single stage, so I don't have to bother checking every single case and cussing at primers that are set on the side.
I do progressive starting with the primed cases...
