loads 40 82

slug your bore; the one that I used to own had a bore of .410 instead of .406. I had to open the neck of the chamber a couple of thous and shot jacketed 41 magnum slugs out of it. Wish I still had the gun

Within the last year there was an article in Handloader magazine about the 40-82 and its similar cousin the 405 Winchester.

It was probably Mike Venturino that wrote the article.

It stuck in my mind because the rounds were so similar, yet different enough to not be quite interchangeable. Kinda like the 38-55 and 375 Winchester similarities...
 
I did slug it and it is a 406 dia which is good because i have a mold that will work.I have 7 factory shells i got with the gun.Think i'll try the 5744
