I have played with the 38/55 quite a bit and could not find a smokeless load that would group with a 30-1 cast bullet and a full case of 3fg Swiss BP. I have tried a levergun and now a singleshot and whether the 235gr. Hudson bullet or the 335gr. Lyman in the singleshot, my best groups were with bp. The 335s knocked the rams over at 500yds when hit right, all with BP.
