Hey Guys,

I'll be helping a fellow coworker load up some rounds for his Browning BAR Light weight in 270Win but he was wondering how hot you can go in a semi before you start doing damage.

I'm assuming that as long as you stay to within manual specs, he should be good.

PS- He's also using IMR4831 with Hornady 150gr Interlocks if you have any pet loads.

Thanks

I'm still fairly new at reloading but I will through my 2 cents out there.

You will need to build up a load from a minimum load, working upwards in small (powder) increments watching for the regular pressure signs up to the maximum (if you get there).

In my limited experiences and in reading in books and on the Internet, hot loads are not usually the best at grouping. You need to start low and work up slowly to find out what the gun likes and watching for signs of trouble.

I don't have a load with 4831 but am getting good results out of 52 grains imr 4350 and 150 grain horn. sst's and or interlocks, also for info got real good group (less than .5 ins.) with 130 gr.sierra sbt, loaded with 58.2 grs. of reloader 22,and win .primer, both loads great for deer this year.the 150's are being used in BAR,and 130's in Mossberg bolt action

54 grains in a Winchester case with WLR's shoots good in a few bolt guns that I tried. this is also with Hornady SST's and Regular interlocks . I have no idea how good this will work in a semi. Its not too hot..around 2850 in a 22" barrel .

Start a few grains lower if you want to try that specific load.
