Local/Canadian source for Lanolin and Castor Oils

I too purchased lanolin and castor oil from my local hippy store (Alternate Root Organics). Much cheaper than amazon.ca as well. I wish I could find a good source for cheap beeswax though. Only place I found was the same store and it was $17/lb. Ouch!

how about $19.97/kg of Canadian sourced beeswax? http://www.wicksandwax.com/beeswax.htm (close to The Keg :D)

Bee keepers usually have this around. I paid $20 for 25 LBS Buy some honey and they give you a good price on 2nd rate wax. Still has bee parts in it. Lanolin from a drug store.

I bought 5 ibs off EBAY year's ago. Came in chunk's. I melted it all and poured it into dollar store ice cube tray's. But the lanoline would never let go of the plastic, even if I left it in the deep freeze for a couple day's. I was going to bed one night when it was in the -40's so I put it outside and the next day when I got home from work they all came out. And the tray's shattered.

Out of idle curiosity, what are you doing with this stuff?
Castor oil is vegetable oil and lanolin is what makes sheep's wool waterproof. Not much application for bullet casting.

Lanolin is a principe content for Felix lube. Check it out on the Cast Bullet Forum. The late Felix Robbins developed the lube some time ago. Most would agree is is one of the best, of not the best soft lubes recipes available to bullet castors. I have used it on handgun and rifle bullets for years. Felix was a close friend and his passing came far to early. He was a chemical engineer.

Can get lanolin in the baby section of Walmart. Nursing mom's use it to keep stuff from cracking. If you read the labels you will find the pure stuff.
Caster oil has been easy for me to find in drug stores.

on sale now.. delivered to your door :)

I bought the solid/creamy stuff by accident.. but just use 2 tbl spoons of it in 500ml of 99% ISO and then let it settle, decant, then strain fatty solids from dregs with a permanent coffee filter..

just buy the oil.. way easier :)

Felix lube is probably the best home lube ever developed. The secret is to follow Felix Robins instructions tp the letter. Particularly the stirring times. Don't forget the Carnuba wax at the end for a little colour. The red wax coating the cheese comes wrapped in is one source and the cheese is great to eat as well. Felix passed away last year or was it two years ago, In any event my dear friend left us a jewel of a lube.
