Location for indoor range near GTA?

Dilapidated motel/bar at the old Grand Trunk Railway station in Georgetown Ontario. (Now the Go train stop) After commuters hours a tonne of free parking and less than an hour from downtown TO (416).
The building is f**ked (though really old I don't believe it holds any historic significance for Georgetown or HH Regional council) and will need to be leveled, but a new indoor, properly backstopped, insulated and ventilated range could easily be built there (Commercial zone) and will attract not only TO/Mississauga, but also Oakville, Burlington and even Hamilton I would presume. About half way to everywhere.

A free lifetime-membership for me and family of 4 is all this intellectual property will cost you CANAM. The cost of property, and construction is on you though K? :)

To go east of TO is a mistake imho.

Wow, aren't you a ray sunshine?

I'm pretty sure CanAm is aware of all the costs, effort and legalities involved, or else they wouldn't have started this thread.

The fact is ranges do exist and new ones do open from time to time. It's not easy any means, but possible... and certainly worth the effort. Any range in the GTA is certain to make money.

Name one outdoor range that has opened within 100 miles of Toronto in the last 25 years.

How is this relevant? CanAm is interested in indoor range with a rubber backstop as per the post.

In my original post, I commented on the xpense of backstop and filtration for an indoor range as well as noise control.

There was also some discussion of an outdoor range in answer to the question. I commented that establishing an outdoor range was nearly impossible. I was challenged that outdoor ranges can and have been established. I don't know of any in the past 25 years, and I'll bet there aren't any. Db rating I believe is now 50 for outdoor ranges, and that's less than normal talking, so my original statement stands....establishing an outdoor range with 200 miles of Toronto is a pipe dream.

I would say Mississauga or the Milton area. The way the bylaws are written for Toronto, no new ranges will be permitted in the city.

Good thing it won't be an outdoor range then.......... as per the original post :)

I'm working down there renovating the station. It was on the 7th floor and it was all ripped out about 3 years a ago. The super told me he found an old maple leaf puck that was shot to hell! I would say put a range right in the middle of the city. Downsview park. #### the range ban in this pussy wiped city
Under? The stairs go up.

Milton was actually my first choice; But, not knowing the area well, I thought I'd explore. I'll be heading out this fall to have a look.

input is much appreciated.

Trying to decide on a location based on traffic congestion or the presumed lack thereof is a losing proposition. If such a place exists that is measurably less congested, it wont stay that way for long.

Milton is great, lived there for a bit actually. Everyone from Mississauga and Toronto seem to be moving out that way as real estate was way cheaper, it's jumping up in price mow but lots of room still!

Vaughn close to Basspro or midway between Cabelas and Basspro is the place and If you open a range with membership fee around $300/yr I will be your first member!!

Bad luck there since Milton is all taken miles around for new subdivisions.

I don't live in that hole, but you should consider something that can be reached by public transit. With the loss of the Union Station gun club and others in the city, the (few, maybe) people who live downtown and don't own cars are completely shut out. I'm pretty sure the subway or at least the buses go out of the city proper. There have to be some old industrial buildings near enough for that.

I'm thinking $300 a year is a little low for a great indoor (hopefully 24/7) gun range... especially taking into account the location being so pricey

Lets be clear. Very few Torontonians are moving to Milton. Not everyone from Toronto lol

Lets also be clear, the bylaws are set up as such (thanks to Mayor Miller) that we cannot have a range in Toronto, I think we are trying to find what could be built close to Toronto.
